Reader Poll
We recently asked our readers if they'd be compelled to purchase a colored sewing machine if one were available. Here's what we found out:
When the poll closed, the "No" vote edged out the "Yes" replies by a mere 9 votes! Out of 217 responses, 104 readers said they'd go for a beautifully colored machine, while 113 declined. Read on for a few excerpts from the comments we received.
"You can never have too many sewing machines but I'd need a more compelling reason than 'color' to purchase another."
Karen, New York
"As long as I would be buying a new machine, why not one in a great color."
Susan, California
"White is fine. Had a black machine once and it was very hard to see to sew especially at night. (Before Ott Light and old age.) Save the color for the fabrics."
Pat, Kansas
"This is just too cool of an idea!"
Marianne, Florida
"Can I have one in pink right now, please? I don't care about features I just love PINK! Slap a breast cancer ribbon on it and you'll sell thousands!"
Erika, Illinois
"White is best so that your eye remains focused on the color of fabrics you are sewing. In Japanese Embroidery we have white paper/cloth surrounding the area we are stitching so that the only color we see is the silk color we are stitching with."
Brenda, New Jersey
