OK, I picked up your magazine on an impulse at the supermarket. I settled down at home and opened it. The first thing I saw was the From the Editor section. "Uh oh. A guy is the editor. This is never good."
Then I read the section and I was caught. The rest of the magazine lived up to the fun and humanity evident in the editor's section. What a terrific mag! I love the first-person style, and the variety of articles. it made me feel as if there were real people writing. Great Job!

Just picked up your August issue and only made it to page 12 before I was on the computer ordering the first issue. I did not even mind paying almost as much for shipping as for the issue! Your magazine is fantastic! Keep up the good work!
I will wait anxiously for the opportunity to subscribe!
Gotta go..............want to finish reading the August issue!
Sincerely,

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the nice words about my fabric in your recent issue of Quilter's Home. For the insecure artist it made me smile - thanks! I was wondering when the little article - the top 10 - was coming out. I want to make sure we have enough magazines in the shop. I seem to get blindsided by magazines coming out since I usually do the work so much earlier....do you know what I mean? You are probably working on next springs issue or something like that.
Anyway, I have to tell you that I LOVE Quilter's Home - it is so FRESH and NEW - what we needed in our industry. Your style is great and it fits us youngins' that like something fun and different.
Keep up the good work and let me know if you ever need anything for the magazine!
Take care,
Valorie Wells

Just a note to tell you I was DRAWN to your magazine in the grocery store. I bought it and came home and read it from cover to cover! I NEVER do that and besides that I'm not even a quilter! I loved it...I am hooked and cannot wait to subscribe so I am telling everyone to buy your magazine. I will volunteer to help you keep this going...need ideas? Articles? Whatever, I am here.
I am a rug hooker actually. Wool rugs hooked the old-fashioned way and I comb Good Will and thrift stores for wool to cut up for my rugs. I have crosstitched, crocheted, knitted, sewn, decoupaged, refinished furniture....you name it, I have done it EXCEPT....I have not quilted but I have bought fat quarters, fabric, a rotary cutter and mat. Quilting is like the last frontier for me and I think you have just pushed me over the edge. I am free-falling and cannot wait to get started on my first project.
There...see...an article for your magazine...a virgin quilter....it could be a series! Anyway, I love your sense of humor, your UFO's which cross all boundaries of crafters and fiber artists. You have a great magazine and I wish you all the luck and good fortune there is for you and your staff. I would love to be a part of it if you need me. Actually, I have a degree in computer science which makes it even more important to use my left brain or right whichever is the creative side.
Sorry this is so long.........
Inspired and your fan forever.......

Hi Mark,
I just wanted to say that I love Quilter's Home. I have been waiting for a magazine like this for a long time! I love the fact that there are so many articles. I love a good pattern as much as the next quilter, but sometimes I just want to read quilting-related stuff and not have an entire magazine full of patterns!
Your humor and down-to-earthedness (is that a word?) are refreshing and I can't help but smile when I read your magazine.
I hope Quilter's Home becomes an enormous success and...when can I get a subscription!!!
Best wishes,
Lisa Ramos

Dear Mark,
I just discovered your new magazine, Quilter's Home. I am usually on auto pilot when I buy my usual mags at Barnes and Noble and then I spotted this new one. I was curious and bought it. Last night I opened it and found it refreshing. I am a crazy quilter who used to be a traditional patchwork quilter until I became so bored of patterns and measuring precise pieces of fabrics. So much structure, it was just no fun anymore. Although I do keep my cotton stash for another patchwork quilt someday, I continue to find myself exploring new shops and sources for "t;fancies" to use in CQ.
I love how your magazine offers info on products and issues any type of "fabric manipulator" faces. I hope you continue your "blog" articles in each issue. I love blogs and finding new ones related to quilts of any kind are wonderful and enlightening.

I can't wait for the next issue and I am not finished with this one yet. I was wondering if you were going to have any crazy quilting in your magazine in the future? I am off to make the "Apple Cheddar Pizza" you offered in this issue. Sounds great! Many thanks to you and your staff for something new to look forward to.
Sincerely,
Pat Winter

Hey Mark,
I want a subscription! The first time I found this little gem, I bought 4, and gave away 3. The friends that I gave them to l loved them too.
I know that other quilt mags, do stories on quilt shops, how about doing stories on the people behind quilting. The people who don't compete in quilt show, but give to the communities instead. example:
1.) Brenda Scott of Eureka, CA also a quilt shop owner, raised money for hand operated sewing machines, for ladies in the war zone.
2)I bought my first new sewing machine on my honey moon 15 years ago at Village Sewing Center in Santa Rosa CA.. I remember the lady that sold me the machine, made sleeping bags for the homeless. I visited this shop 5 years ago and she was still doing items for the homeless.
We all know that quilt guilds have community quilts and preemie quilts, how about the people behind those quilts.
Just an idea. I LOVE Quilters Home! I do have a hard time finding it. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the October issue.
Sincerely
Lori Dinsmore

I have bought both issues of the Quilter's Home magazine. It is so refreshing and a really good read. I am probably under the age of the stereotypical quilter and loved the style of the articles. I enjoy the format of the articles instead of purchasing a magazine that I may or may not like a few of the patterns contained therein. I find the quips in the writing hysterically funny as well. I truly hope there are plans to make this a subscription magazine that you can have delivered to you home as I am already a fan. Please add me to your list to obtain any future information should this become a subscription magazine.
Sincerely,
Linda Martin

I read and reread the two issues I have so far. keep up the exceptional work on them. You really keep me in stitches!!! LOL

Hi Mark,
Your mag is FAB!!!! I was, to be honest, a bit sick of being the youngest person (by about 20 years!) at many of the quilting classes I was taking. I was really jazzed to learn a few months ago that Amy Butler is that same age as me, and then to see your magazine now is just the icing on the cake! The 'first person' format definitely works, but only because you are a PISTOL and anyone who can make me laugh out loud has got to be Robin Williams funny. Kudos, babe, keep up the good work, and let me know when we can subscribe! Loved the dogs in the August issue too...
Theresa Thom

Mark,
I LOVE your magazine!! It's good to know I am not alone as a young quilter looking for modern fabrics, patterns, and commentary. Thank you for opening this door. I want to add Louie, Louie (August 2006) to my list of must dos but I am interested in making it a baby quilt (as a young quilter I and all my friends have young children so I make dozens of baby quilts without batting an eye). Have you considered providing material lists for various sizes for each featured pattern? While most of us can adjust the number of cuts and blocks; I always struggle with figuring out how much of each fabric I should buy when adjusting the finished quilt size. Buying too little invariably leads to a discontinued fabric and buying too much invariably leads to a disgruntled husband. Keep up the great work; and when can we subscribe?!

I found the August issue and was pretty sure I'd not seen this magazine before. But then again - I loose track of what mags I've read when! The cover story "10 Ways to get your Quilting Mojo Back" was what led me to buy the magazine. I've not been quilting for some time (being a working mom of two teens) but want to get back to it. My stash is calling!
The minute I started reading I knew I'd found something different! I'm pretty certain that I've never laughed out loud while reading a quilting magazine.
I LOVE the fresh attitude, the articles and, yes, the patterns!
I'm going on-line to buy the June issue - and look forward to being able to become a charter subscriber.
Keep up the GREAT work, "baby doll!"

Hi Mark!
The second issue looks great! Lots of fun and interesting stuff in it. You've really cornered the market on a youthful look and youthful thinking. Thanks for the P&B fabric quilt - looks great!
Best,
Julie

Dear Mark,
Whoo hoo! I am a magazine-aholic, have found my faves in different subjects, but continue to look for new ones. I picked yours up the other day (8 dollars, ouch) but bought it anyhow. I was pleased. It has lots to offer, instead of just patterns like the other "quilt" mags. Also, with all the emphasis on "finding balance" in our lives today, it was SO refreshing to see a quilt magazine who's editor is male! Hurrah!
Looking forward to the next edition (is it every month?). Keep up the great work. Loved the dog pics too!

Hey Mark,
I was interested to read the results of the poll taken by your researchers on the reasons for the closure of so many local quilt shops (Fall issue). I would be even more interested to know if you intend to give shop owners the right to reply. I am not an owner, but I work in a quilt shop in the UK and the situation is perhaps worse over here. Would you have the time to hear some views from the other side of the counter, on the other side of the pond?
Regards,
Sally Kerr

It's Friday and I'm in the middle of packing for a move that is unplanned. I've lost my job and have little sense of time now.
My ex coworkers call to take me to lunch and I say great! I'll get there early and save a table. I leave the house and realize its only 11 am, we're not meeting till Noon and the restaurant is only 5 minutes away. There's a bookstore on the way that sells quilting magazine and it's been months since I've purchased one.
I'm surprised to see Quilter's Home and the cover stories intrigued me so I take it with me to read while waiting for my friends at the restaurant. Of course I purchased it first.
I'm just getting to the article on "What to Stash and What to Trash" when they finally arrive; at 12:20. Oh well, I put the magazine away and wait for the evening to relax and read.
I just finished reading and what a true treat for the quilter. Seeing as how I have 15 storage boxes of fabric, I AM looking forward to having a garage where I too can sort and purge by following the guidelines in the article.
I would like to commend you, Mark, on a great magazine and on your great name as my new husband's name is the same.

Dear Mark,
I just purchased my first copy of your new magazine, the August issue of Quilter's Home, and even though I'm not yet finished reading it, I had to email my thanks. It is just a terrific read - love the articles about the quilt designers. If you have a subscription list, please add my name to it. I'm sorry to have missed the Premier Issue, and I'm trying to order it online. I really need to have that article about husbands and hobbies!
By the way, do you have any relatives in the Wyoming/Swoyersville area of Northeastern PA??? I have family there, and know families with your last name. Coincidence?
Keep up the good work!
Kathy Gonglefski Alpharetta, GA.

Hey Mark.
Love your magazine. When are you going to offer it for subscription?
Wendy

Dear Mark!
I want to thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing to this world a really fabulous magazine for quilters. I purchased your second issue from Chapters, here in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, yesterday, and am still reading and re-reading each and every page. Your humor in dealing with all the subjects makes it a pleasure. Love it!! I'm dying to get the first issue, but when I try to contact the Village Quilt Shoppe link on your website, nothing happens. Is there another way I can get a copy, or can you put them in touch with me, please?
Keep up the good work you're doing for all us "addicts" out here....how often will you publish?
With sincere appreciation, Phyllis Babyk
