Millionaire Nuggets

1/2 cup butter
2 cups light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
2 tablespoons hot water
3 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 cups flour
1 pound candied cherries, finely chopped
1 pound pecans, finely chopped
3 tablespoons brandy or wine
2 teaspoons vanilla

Cream butter, sugar and salt well. Mix soda with hot water. Add beaten eggs, soda-water mixture and mix lightly. Then add flour, fruit and nuts, and finally brandy and vanilla. Grease mini-muffin pans and fill half to two-thirds with a dollop of batter. Bake for 10 minutes in 350-degree oven. Cool slightly and remove to fully cool on a rack. IMPORTANT: Wash mini-muffin pan before filling with more batter. Yield: 5 to 6 dozen. Nuggets can be frozen if well wrapped.
