Melissa Thompson Maher - Editor
Melissa Thompson Maher has written about a huge variety of subjects in her long-ish magazine career—including petroleum investing and screen-printed apparel-- but few were ever as fun as what she encounters writing about the creative lifestyle of today’s quilter/crafter/sewist. (What could be sweeter than cocktails, creativity and all the different ways quilting can enhance life?)
She joined the wild world of Quilter’s Home in 2007 as a freelance editor and writer. Now Melissa and colleague Jake Finch co-edit Quilter’s Home, constantly on the prowl for more quilty fun, great ideas and new ways to explore the quilting lifestyle.
Melissa’s quilting credentials are getting stronger, but she’s no stranger to textiles, having sewn since she joined 4-H back when the earth’s crust was still cooling. She enjoys making custom multimedia purses, garments and quilts—natch!—whenever she can sneak in some fiber therapy in the sewing room that adjoins her office in dusty, quirky Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A former caterer, she enjoys writing Calorie Intake and The Pour for each issue. And she specializes in many of the human interest features in Quilter’s Home, including the Come On In features. Her fave story to date? Might be the one about the quilting inmates…but then you haven’t read that one yet! (Future issue, honey.) Contact her directly, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
