Melissa Thompson Maher is a “seasoned” (read: old) editorial hack who has logged long magazine stretches in the worlds of oil and gas finance, restaurant management, screen-printed apparel, commercial embroidery and home sewing. Is it any wonder she’s thriving in the wild world of Quilter’s Home? (Why, it’s taken 20 years off her lexicon!) Some of you machine embroiderers may remember her from her time as founding editor of Stitches Magazine. Now, from her office in dusty, offbeat Albuquerque, she writes and edits for QH, searching out new ways to explore the quilting lifestyle. Her quilting credentials are still on the build, but she’s no stranger to textiles, and makes custom multimedia purses and pillows (among other things) when she needs some fabric therapy.
